Anupam Mittal, CEO of People Group and Shaadi.com, stirred controversy by introducing a ‘dowry calculator’ on Shaadi.com. Criticism followed, accusing him of promoting a toxic tradition. However, contrary to initial assumptions, the tool aimed to convey a powerful message. Instead of displaying a monetary value, the feature presents data about dowry deaths in India. While some condemned Mittal for seemingly endorsing dowry, a practice banned in India since 1961, others praised him after trying the tool.

Police constable saves baby monkey with CPR

Vikas Tomar, a 51-year-old head constable at Chhatari police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr, gained attention for performing CPR on a dehydrated baby monkey suffering from a heat stroke. His courageous act, captured in a widely-circulated video, earned him widespread admiration. The monkey collapsed from a tree due to excessive heat, prompting Tomar’s intervention. Despite challenges posed by other monkeys, Tomar successfully administered CPR, saving the baby’s life.

Birth on a bus

A 37-year-old woman from Malappuram delivered a baby aboard a KSRTC bus en route Kozhikode. The driver’s quick thinking and cooperation from the bus crew ensured the woman received prompt medical attention at a nearby hospital. As the bus crossed Peramangalam in Thrissur district, the woman went into labor. The driver rerouted to Amala Hospital, where the woman gave birth with the assistance of a medical team.
