Watch: Sunil Chhetri serenades teammates with Lucky Ali’s ‘O Sanam’ following his retirement match

Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri wrapped up his international career after the World Cup qualifier against Kuwait on June 6. The 39-year-old striker had already announced his retirement from international play last month.

But it wasn’t all tears and goodbyes. A fun video shared by @bluetigershub has been making rounds on social media showing Chhetri and his teammates belting out Lucky Ali’s ‘O Sanam’ song on the bus ride after the match. With the bus bathed in blue light, Chhetri, at the center of the frame, passionately sings the lyrics with his eyes closed, surrounded by his equally spirited teammates.

As the song ended, the whole bus erupted in cheers and applause. The video quickly went viral on Instagram, racking up over 17,000 views. One user summed up the vibe perfectly in the comments, saying,“He gave his all! 😢❤️. He deserved a different country.” A second user added, “We will never forget.” And a third user said, “Our captain leader legend”, and another said, “We all can feel that pain!”

In an emotional farewell, Chhetri’s final game in the Indian jersey left players, fans, and celebrities misty-eyed. He was showered with a standing ovation and took a poignant lap of honor, visibly moved by the moment.
