Most Indian kids have probably grown up hearing their parents say, “padhne wale bacche kahin bhi padh lete hain” (children who really want to study can study anywhere). A viral Instagram clip seems to prove that old line true, and may even warm a few parents’ hearts.

In the video, a man described as “homeless” is sitting under a pillar near a metro station. Wearing only shorts, he’s bent over a book, scribbling notes in a textbook. At one point he even turns his notebook towards someone off-camera, as if showing his work. The short clip, filmed by a passerby, was uploaded by the page The Whatup with the caption: “Homeless man was spotted studying outside a metro station.”

The post has exploded across Instagram, drawing thousands of reactions. Comments range from admiration to tongue-in-cheek jokes. One user drew a relatable parallel, writing, “News when I am watching it with my Parents.” Another user said, “Sharma ji ka beta” (Mr. Sharma’s son, a running joke in India for the perfect child). One Instagram user wrote, “yeh video meri mummy ke feed pe nahi dikhna chahiye” (my mom should never see this video).

Nizamuddin went to the US in December 2015 for a Master’s course in Computer Science, which he completed from Florida Institute of Technology in 2017. He completed his B.Tech in ECE from Jayaprakash Narayan College of Engineering, Mahbubnagar.
