The romantic drama failed to perform at the box office back then. However, it gained a massive fan base on OTT over the years. As fans rush to theatres after its re-release, a video from a group of men breaking down at a theatre in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut has been circulating on the Internet. The viral clip captures a fan’s emotional reaction to the soul-stirring title track Sanam Teri Kasam as the post-credit scene plays. Sanam Teri Kasam traces the heart-wrenching love story of Inder (Rane) and Saraswati (Hocane), one that navigates personal turmoil and societal norms. The songs in the movie, composed by Himesh Reshammiya, were hits since the original release and have achieved iconic status over time. In a recent interview with SCREEN, Rane opened up about the time the movie failed to perform at the box-office. “I hope it does what it didn’t do earlier, that’s it. Kya feel karoon main? Everyone was asking me everywhere to bring this film back. The only anecdote I remember is that we all were expecting this film to do much better than what it did. That void has pushed me today to request everyone to release this. Nau saal hogaye hain (It has been nine years), every year they keep losing faith, but my faith keeps increasing." He also said, “When it didn’t perform well, we all (the producers, director, actors) felt that pain, a tug in the heart.”
