In Malaysia’s Kampung Dew in Kamunting, a family experienced a heart-stopping moment when a massive python––over five meters long and some 80 kilograms––crashed through their living room ceiling, landing right on their sofa.

As per New Straits Times, a Malaysian news publication, the snake is believed to have wandered in from a nearby oil palm plantation. Alarmed by the sudden intrusion, the family contacted the Taiping District Civil Defence Force, a part of Malaysia’s civil defence agency Angkatan Pertahanan Awam (APM), around 8 PM on November 22. Seven APM officers responded to the emergency, according to Faizulhalimi Mohd Yunus, a district APM official.

To reach the snake and capture it, the team had to demolish a part of the living room ceiling. A video shared on Instagram by Brut America shows the aftermath— a gaping hole in the ceiling and the enormous python moving across the sofa––leaving viewers stunned.
