The Mahakumbh Mela, known as the world’s largest religious and spiritual gathering, drew millions of devotees to the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. In a creative twist, residents of a housing society in Noida transformed their swimming pool into a makeshift Triveni Sangam, as they were unable to attend the Mahakumbh in person.

They collected water from Prayagraj’s Triveni Sangam, poured it into the pool, performed rituals, and took sacred dips to experience the spiritual significance of the event. The viral video shows several women gathered near the society’s pool and pouring the Sangam water. They also chanted “Har Har Gange” and offered prayers.

Sharing the video, jist.news wrote, “Residents of Noida’s ATS Society have poured water from the Mahakumbh to the society pool, turning it into a ‘sangam’ pool. People are now performing rituals and taking ceremonial dips in the water.”

However, the incident did not sit well with several social media users, with one saying, “If that’s not a personal pool than there should be an action.” Another user commented, “Broken civic sense.”

“Still better then increase traffic and create chaos on roads,” a third user backed the devotees. “A river stays pure because it keeps flowing, avoiding stagnation. Meanwhile, these guys are out here sprinkling a drop of it into a stagnant chlorine pool like it’s some magical potion. Yep, totally purified now,” a fourth user chimed in.

Mahakumbh Mela 2025 commenced on January 13 and will conclude on February 26. The Uttar Pradesh government announced on Saturday that a record 60 crore devotees have taken a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam. This represents more than half of India’s 110 crore Sanatan followers, with the number expected to exceed 65 crore by the final ‘amrit snan’ on February 26, according to an official statement.
