Chef Nick DiGiovanni and Lynn Davis (fondly known as Lynja) are no strangers to breaking world records when it comes to food. Most recently, the duo created a 102.5-kilogram pink frosted doughnut. With this, they got the Guinness World Record title for “World’s Largest Donut”.
To make this record, DiGiovanni and Davis were required to finish the doughnut within eight hours. Additionally, the doughnut needed to be at least one foot in height.
On Saturday, Nick DiGiovanni posted a video on YouTube that documented the step-by-step process of how they made the massive treat. As per DiGiovanni, their final doughnut was equivalent to 1500 regular doughnuts.
In the video, he also mentioned that after their record was verified, they safely donated all the food used in the video to a homeless shelter in Boston with the help of The Farmlink Project, an organisation that distributes surplus food to those in need.
DiGiovanni’s YouTube video about the world’s biggest doughnut has over 3.7 lakh views. Commenting on it, a YouTube user wrote, “I wish I could have a bite of that big donut😊 also I love you nick and lynja you guys are such a iconic duo”.
While many people praised DiGiovanni and Davis, a few noted that the doughnut that they made looked more like a cake-shaped doughnut rather than a doughnut as oughnuts are usually deep fried.
Echoing this view, a YouTube user wrote, “I don’t want to take away from this amazing record, but is this really considered a giant donut? or is it a giant cake shaped like a donut? Anyways love your videos as always.”
