Disney+ Hotstar subscribers will no longer be able to stream HBO classics like Game of Thrones and other content. The OTT platform earlier this month announced the same on Twitter. It added insult to injury of subscribers who were smarting from the time when the first episode of Succession didn’t land on the platform.
As netizens wonder where to get their fix of entertainment, they took to social media to vent their anger. Memes and tweets lamenting the loss, and expressing anger and frustration are doing the rounds on Twitter. Some even asked the OTT platform to return their subscription charges and regretted making payment for the one-year plan.
“Starting 31st March, HBO content will be unavailable on Disney+ Hotstar. You can continue enjoying Disney+ Hotstar’s vast library of content spanning over 100,000 hours of TV Shows and Movies in 10 languages and coverage of major global sporting events,” Disney+ Hotstar’s tweet read.

In December 2022, Amazon and HBO signed a deal permitting users to subscribe to HBO Max with Amazon Prime. It is likely that the service will be launched in India after Hotstar’s HBO content removal. In the US, the plan costs $16 (Rs 1,314) a month for ad-free streaming. It should be noted that IPL 2023 will also not be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar and it will be available for free in 4K resolution on Jio Cinemas.
