Monkeys are known as some of the smartest creatures on earth. They often learn things by observation. Over the years, many monkeys have learnt how to eat packaged food be it by uncapping bottles or cutting open a bag of chips.

Now an adorable video that shows a monkey cleaning a ‘dirty’ snack is raking in likes. The undated video shows a man rubbing a packed snack in dirt and then offering it to a monkey. The primate accepts the snack but makes sure to remove all the dirt from the wrapper beforehand. Even after the monkey opened the packaging, it cleaned it a bit even though the snack was unaffected as it was fully packed.

The video was posted on Instagram by the popular account @animalsinplanet. So far it has over 24 lakh likes. Commenting on the video, an Instagram user wrote, “Dude is more hygienic than my sister….”. Another person wrote, “He even cleaned it once after opening.”

However, not all people were impressed with the clip. Some people noted that one should not feed fast food or packaged snacks to wild animals. Echoing this sentiment, an Instagram user wrote, “Feeding processed food to a wild animal should be considered CRIME.”

In September, a video of a langur “working” inside a railway office went viral. The video shows a langur sitting on an office chair in front of a computer, flipping through the files and typing on the keyboard. It appears that the simian learned to mimic these actions by observing people. This video was reportedly taken at the Bolpur Shantiniketan railway station office in West Bengal.
