Ludhiana woman foils robbery by hanging out of moving auto; viral video shows dramatic escape

One of the men asked the driver to slow down. Almost immediately, the two passengers tied Kumar’s hands and brandished sharp weapons, in an alleged attempt to rob her. In a split second, Kumar’s instinct kicked in. Rather than freezing in shock, Kumar lunged towards the open side of the moving vehicle, hanging half-out and screaming to alert passing cars.

Her desperate gamble worked. A car full of commuters captured the shocking moment on video. A car driving past the auto-rickshaw can be seen attempting to get the auto to stop. Eventually, people in different cars and other bystanders intervened, rescuing Kumar and pinned down two of the suspects, according the report. Police said one man fled during the chaos but an investigation is underway.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Davinder Chaudhary told TOI that an FIR has been filed at Salem Tabri Police Station. He said the case was registered under “sections 304 (snatching), 3(5) (crime committed with shared intent), and 317(2) (possession of stolen property) of the BNS,” and identified one accused as Mohit alias Manu, already facing three other criminal cases.

The videos capturing the incident went viral on social media. Netizens reacted to the video in the comments section.
