The Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction 2025 is making waves on social media. The first day of the auction (Sunday) saw Rishabh Pant becoming the most expensive player in the tournament’s history as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bought the wicketkeeper-batter at Rs 27 crore. While the Internet is abuzz in anticipation of the second day of the IPL auction 2025, industrialist Harsh Goenka highlighted five key points that make the event “extraordinary”.

In an X post, Goenka wrote, ‘Only at an #IPLAuction can you witness the extraordinary: People being ‘sold’ for ₹27 crore, Ambani being outbid, Paddle more powerful than a credit card, Humble players turning into crorepatis in a day, Billionaires fighting over cricketers more viciously than the corporate battlefield.’

With 42,000 views, the post prompted a range of reactions from several cricket enthusiasts. “Shouldn’t players have an option of choosing which side they play for? This will improve how teams take care of players,” a user wrote. “Hope they play Cricket as well,” another user commented.

“This in a country where 60% of population is dependent on free ration. The rich get richer the poor more poorer,” a third user reacted.
