The report stated that the Chennai user’s ordering pattern, averaging nearly one purchase every 1.5 days, represents “one of the most frequent repeat-purchase behaviours recorded on Instamart”. It further noted that condoms appeared in “one out of every 127 Instamart orders,” while September alone witnessed a “24 per cent jump in condom purchases,” marking one of the sharpest monthly spikes.
Based on an analysis of millions of orders placed between January and November across more than 128 cities, the report points to a growing preference for health-based purchases on quick-commerce platforms.
The condom-ordering trend is part of a broader shift in consumer behaviour, according to the report. The company pointed out that India’s quick-commerce ecosystem has “matured significantly” over the past year. Among the standout figures, a Mumbai user purchased gold worth Rs 15.16 lakh, while a Hyderabad resident checked out a single cart containing an iPhone worth Rs 4.3 lakh, it said. Bengaluru topped the tipping charts nationally, with one user paying Rs 68,600 in delivery tips, the Instamart report said.
Instamart’s report also mentioned that its top overall spender of the year shelled out more than Rs 22 lakh. The unnamed user purchased “22 iPhone 17s, 24K gold coins, and everyday essentials such as milk, fruits, and eggs,” creating the highest cumulative cart value on the platform.
