A woman from the Netherlands, who goes by the name “Avocado on the Road” on social media, recently suffered harassment by a young Indian man on a train travelling from New Delhi to Agra. Releasing a video on Instagram, the travel influencer shared that the man has been “annoying” her by taking selfies with her without her consent.

The viral clip shows a travel influencer sitting by a window seat, while a man dressed in traditional attire can be seen smiling and posing nearby. “I’m on a train in India, and this guy keeps taking pictures of me in a really annoying and rude way. So, I decided to do the same,” she says in the clip.

In the caption, she revealed that it was her first train journey in India, adding, “It was a very bad experience, and I didn’t feel comfortable enough to relax. Despite asking him to stop, he didn’t. So, I made my own video, hoping he’d get the message since he spoke some English.”

“I love India very much and this experience is definitely not gonna stop me exploring this beautiful country. I made many local friends along a way already and I am grateful for that. So thank you for all the kindness and hospitality you guys in India offer,” she added.

The video accumulated over three million views as several social media users slammed the man, with one commenting, “why can’t some Indian men just vanish from the face of this earth.” Another user wrote, “Hey, I am sorry for this experience. Apparently, this is very common behaviour towards foreigners. Next time, please ask the TC to change their seat and do not hesitate to make a scene. Most of the crowd will certainly help you.”

“On behalf of Indian men, we offer our sincerest apologies. It is truly a sad state of affairs. Wishing you a safe trip back home,” a third user reacted.

Last year, a video of a man dancing around a Russian tourist at Delhi’s India Gate emerged on social media. The video shows the man deliberately bothering the foreign woman despite her discomfort.
