Potholes on Indian roads, including in metros like Bengaluru and Mumbai, are persistent problems, leading to incessant outrage on social media. An Indian man living in Dubai recently captured how efficiently potholes are repaired in the United Arab Emirates. In a video that has gone viral now, the man hailed the city’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) for repairing a pothole-ridden road within a few hours of it being reported.

Reshabh Nagpal shared a video on Instagram capturing the swift repair work. In it, he said that the action began soon after his friend complained about the damaged stretch. To their surprise, RTA officials arrived almost immediately and began fixing the road. His video shows workers clearing debris, levelling the surface, and resurfacing the road.

“And if you see, there are so many people standing on the side, watching how it has been done. Because this is unbelievable. Usually, this could take up to 1 or 2 or 3 weeks or maybe months. This is just done in a few hours. It is 4.30 right now. Road is done and operational. It has been painted as well. This is Dubai. This is why everyone loves Dubai. It is like nothing happened, but everything is done,” he said in the video.

The video sparked a conversation around road management, with several users comparing the time frame of repair and construction work with that in India. “They are able to do all this because they’re getting cheap labour abusing them. Do you know how much they are paying them ? 1000 to 1200 AED max and they are working in this kind of heat this is absolutely ridiculous,” a user wrote.

“Alright.. the repair is one thing, but have you noticed how clean the site is , whereas in India, not only do they rake long, but leave an unholy mess behind..!!” another user commented. “In India it will take 5 years before the election,” a third user reacted.
