Wild animals can get quite attached to their human caretakers and now, a video of a young elephant’s bond with its caretaker as it refuses to let him leave is going viral on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Ananth Rupanagudi, a railway bureaucrat, shared the video on Wednesday and it has amassed more than 38,000 views. The clip shows the elephant embracing the man with its trunk. The man, who is supposedly the elephant’s caretaker, tries to ride pillion on a two-wheeler, however, the elephant refuses to let him go.
Even after hugging the elephant, which appears to be a baby, many times, the animal refuses to let him leave. The location and date of the video are not known. “The bonding between the elephant and it’s caretaker – it won’t just let him go!” Rupanagudi captioned the video.

“Most lovable bond,” a user commented. “Beauty, innocent , pure, harmless, selfless luv n bonding, hard to see amongst humans,” said another. “Look how carefully he is handling….he is very gentle..he knows he is powerful..look at 0.22,” wrote a third.
In July, Indian Forest Service officer Susanta Nanda shared a video that showed a herd of jumbos quickly coming together to cover their young ones sensing an impending lion attack.
While sharing a clip, Nanda wrote, “On seeing the lion, elephants form a circle around the young calves for protecting the young baby. In wild, no animal does it better than elephant herd.”
