As summer heat has started prematurely, people have been struggling to cope with it in various ways. Now a video showing an elephant using a jet of water from a hosepipe to keep its body cool has gone viral on social media.
The video shows the elephant pouring water on its body from the hosepipe. The gentle giant holds the pipe with its trunk and is seen rapidly splashing water on both sides of its body. The animal carefully handles the pipe and appears to have found solace in the cool water. The video seems to have been captured from Tamil Nadu though the exact location remains unknown.
The clip was shared on Facebook by Puthiya Thalaimurai, a Tamil news television channel, on Saturday. Elephant lovers have showered love for the post. A Facebook user commented, “Super.” Another user wrote in roughly translated Tamil, “No use trusting anyone, we have to catch and bath ourselves.” A third user wrote, “Beautiful.”
Last year, northwest and central India witnessed the hottest April in 122 years. Amid the heatwave, a teacher’s poetry recitation in front of his students had grabbed attention online. Urging his students to stay indoors, the teacher recited verses and suggested that they have cucumber and muskmelon before going to school and never skip meals.
