In a dramatic incident in the Barkhedi area in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, a drunk man climbed to the top of a mobile tower, sparking panic among bystanders. The individual, later identified as Vivek Thakur from Aishbagh, put himself at risk as he climbed the tower and began shaking it, raising fears of it collapsing.
The incident unfolded around 2 PM on Saturday when the man, under the influence, began climbing the mobile tower, reported the Free Press Journal. After about 20 minutes, he had reached a significant height, drawing the attention of onlookers. Seeing the danger, witnesses immediately contacted the police and the municipal corporation. Rescue teams, including the police and SDRF, quickly arrived at the scene and rescued him.
The now-viral video shows the man—wearing a red turban—seated on the top of the mobile tower and making hand gestures. Several onlookers can be seen filming the scene.

Reacting to the video, a user wrote, “This tower is scary. I have seen several people climbing it to commit suicide.”
By 2:40 PM, the rescue teams were able to convince Thakur to climb down the tower. He was safely brought down and taken into police custody, where he is currently being questioned. Authorities are now conducting an investigation to understand the underlying reasons for his reckless action.
A similar incident occurred in Noida last year wherein a drunk man scaled a high-voltage electric tower in Sector 113. According to reports, he was seen dancing on the pole. This led to swift response from local authorities, including the police and fire services. After two hours of intense negotiations, the man was safely brought down.
