A lot of people on social media have shared about difficulties in finding rented accommodation in Bengaluru. Recently, one man shared a similar experience on LinkedIn and lamented that he cleared the Google interview but failed the tenant interview in Bengaluru.
Ripu Daman Bhadoria, who works as an Engineering Manager at Google, shared on LinkedIn how he managed to finally find a house to rent in Bengaluru. He said that when he relocated to Bengaluru from Seattle in 2022, he found it difficult to find a decent place to rent due to the high demand post-Covid.
He then directly asked the landlord for feedback on his interview performance and if there were any red flags that he could overcome. The landlord was transparent in sharing feedback and explained the reason behind his rejection. He said they believed that he was likely to buy a house given that he worked for Google, he wrote. “𝖨 𝗇𝖾𝗏𝖾𝗋 𝗍𝗁𝗈𝗎𝗀𝗁𝗍 𝗍𝗁𝖺𝗍 working at Google 𝖼𝗈𝗎𝗅𝖽 𝖻e so disadvantageous,” he said. 𝖧𝗈𝗐𝖾𝗏𝖾𝗋, 𝖨 successfully cleared the next tenant interview.”
“Bangalore landowners are a nuisance. I was there in 2016 and i was asked questions like ‘do you wear short skirts’ or ‘will you have male friends coming to your place.’ Demonetization happened and they simply refused to take money to their bank account. I got a place to live since I was with TCS. My friend, who was in a different company, didn’t get a place to stay for 2 months! Since then, I avoid Bangalore like a plague,” commented a user. “You say “Tenant interview is harder than Google interview”. So, if one clears tenant Interview, will he/she be offered a job in Google,” another user joked.
