The North-South language debate has become a prominent topic on the Internet, evoking discussions about linguistic diversity and inclusivity in India. The divide often stems from the prominence of Hindi in the northern states, while southern states predominantly speak languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Cadbury has rolled out a new series of advertisements, and one of them is stirring up attention on social media. The advertisement addresses the North-South language divide with a simple yet powerful message.

The ad begins with a group of North Indian women, speaking in Hindi, when a new neighbour from Chennai joins them. Initially, she struggles to follow the conversation, making her feel out of place. However, one of the women notices her discomfort and nswitches to broken English, making the new neighbour feel included and allowing the conversation to flow smoothly.

The new ad is part of the “Kuch Accha Ho Jaaye, Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye” campaign. “When we make an effort to ignore our differences and accept people for who they are, we create a better world. A sweeter world where everyone is welcome,” Cadbury Dairy Milk India captioned the ad.
