A husband’s attempt to turn house cleaning into a payday has taken an unexpected twist, resulting in a playful battle of wits between the spouses that has left the internet in stitches.
As he tackled the household chores — cleaning a large corner sofa, three bedroom carpets and a stone floor — little did the wife know that her husband had a mischievous plan up his sleeve. Before long, he sent out an invoice worth £700 (roughly Rs 74,000) for his “services.”
Interestingly, the two operate a cleaning enterprise named ‘Clean Me Carpet and Upholstery Doncaster’ in England’s South Yorkshire.
The tongue-in-cheek invoice detailed various cleaning tasks, each probably assigned with a price tag. The husband, March Hatch, had itemised every chore, leaving no sponge unturned.
“Last week we had a very unfortunate incident when a customer refused to pay!” read the caption to the screenshot of the message. “After cleaning a large corner sofa, 3 bedroom carpets and a stone floor the customer informed us she was absolutely delighted with the results! great news or so we thought! On requesting payment the customer sent us the below message”.
The wife, Jasmine, replied to him in the same vein. “Get a grip, we’re married with 3 kids’, ” she wrote. As screenshots circulated on social media, garnering laughter and applause from netizens, one user wrote, “I did this once as a joke and my customers on Facebook ripped into my wife terribly, made it even better haha.”
“Every husband is waiting for his wife to notice that he did a household job,” another observed. “I was totally thinking what’s her being married with 3 kids got to do with it,” one netizen chimed in.
As the internet continues to share and celebrate the Doncaster couple’s antics, it is clear that in this household the only currency accepted is a good sense of humour.
