Who is Elisabet Lann?

Elisabet Lann, 41, was appointed as the Swedish Health Minister after Acko Ankarberg Johansson’s resignation on September 8. A veteran of the Christian Democrats political party, she began serving as a municipal councillor in Gothenburg in 2019 and later worked on the Health Care Responsibility Inquiry panel. She has a Master’s degree in peace and development studies, and previously held a deputy director role in the Cabinet Office.

Despite the worrying incident, Lann returned to the briefing not long after. Explaining what happened, she told reporters: “This was not exactly a normal Tuesday, and this is what can happen when you have a blood sugar drop.” She later exited the event once more and, according to Swedish broadcaster SVT, appeared to have recovered without any lasting problems.

Netizens also took to the comments section to react to the video. A user wrote, “When she fell, her face hit the corner of that podium HARD. I bet that hurt.” Another user wrote, “It is alarming how much we have seen this type of thing since the MRNA roll out ….. I wish people would either confirm she recently had a shot or not to rule it out …. this whole how dare you ask is costing people their health.”

A third person commented, “I am hopeful that this is just a case of her locking her logs when standing too long, or dehydration (which is what they will ultimately say it is).”
