British celebrity chef Gordan Ramsay’s ‘Idiot Sandwich’ is a well known meme. Most recently, K-pop group Stray Kids referenced it in the music video of their song ‘Super Bowl’ (Japanese version), released on August 9 on YouTube.
The ‘Idiot Sandwich’ is a scene from a 2015 skit from The Late Late Show with James Corden. In the skit, TV personality Julie Chen and Ramsay himself parody Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen, a reality TV show.
During the skit, Ramsay mocks his angry persona and holds Julie’s head between two slices of bread and screams “What are you?” To this Julie replies, “An idiot sandwich”. In the ‘Super Bowl (Japanese version)’ music video, rapper Bang Chan recreates the same scenes but with a man dressed as a bear.
On Thursday, Ramsay re-shared a post by a Stray Kids fan account which has posted stills from the ‘Idiot Sandwich’ skit and the music video and wrote, “Taking Idiot Sandwiches worldwide ! 😂”.

Commenting on Ramsay’s response, an X user wrote, “Mr Ramsay, you started the trend and now Stray Kids are taking off with it! Thank you for the inspiration”. Another person wrote, “if i had a nickel for every time gordon ramsay has been featured in some way in a kpop song i’d have two nickels. which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice”.
Previously, Mark Lee, a member of the K-pop band NCT, had mentioned Gordan Ramsay in his song Golden Hour, which was released in April this year. The lyrics, in Korean said: ‘Excuse mе waiter, that golden yolk in the middle, Make it right, I’m callin Gordon Ramsay”.
