Pro-Palestine student protesters target NYU president’s home, smears ‘blood’ on front door, sidewalk
Pro-Palestine student protesters across the US are demanding New York University to divest from Israel and support a ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

New York University President Linda Mills’ residence in New York City was vandalised on Tuesday afternoon. Social media videos showed a substance resembling blood smeared on the front door and the sidewalk outside. This incident coincides with ongoing pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses across the United States of America.
As per a DNYUZ news report, the vandalism stems from criticism Mills has faced following the arrest of student protesters who set up camps on NYU campus last week. These protesters, along with many others across the US, are calling for the university to ‘disclose and divest’ their investments in companies linked to Israel, and support a ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
The NYPD is investigating the vandalism. NYU officials have condemned the act, calling it “far out of bounds”.

Less than an hour after the reported vandalism, writer Talia Jane posted a video on X, along with excerpts from a note she received, claiming responsibility for the act.

The note, reportedly sent to Jane along with the video, stated that ‘external community members in solidarity with NYU students’ were behind the act. It went on to justify the vandalism as a response to Mills and NYU‘s alleged “complicity in genocide” and having “blood on their hands.” The note concluded with a message of support for Gaza, saying “long live Gaza”.

Protesters believe Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. According to an Associated Press report citing local health officials, the initial Hamas attack on Israel resulted in 1,200 deaths and kidnappings, while Israel’s military actions have killed over 34,000 Palestinians in Gaza since the war began.
