Social media abuzz over presidential candidate’s lucky escape from Mexico rally stage collapse

In a post on X, Maynez wrote in Spanish what roughly translates to, “After the accident in San Pedro Garza, where a gust of wind collapsed the stage where we were, I moved to the San José hospital. I am fine and in touch with state authorities to see what happened. Right now, the most important thing is to take care of the accident victims.”

The injured were rushed to a hospital. During the campaign, more than two dozen candidates for local positions have been killed, but this incident doesn’t seem to be linked to that.

On social media, reactions poured in. One user said, “Situational awareness. Have it. It saved his life..” Another commented, “orge Máynez has some ninja moves up his sleeve escaping stage collapses like a pro” And one more wrote, “The weather changed on them FAST.” Meanwhile a fourth user shared, “Most Mexican thing ever.”
