A week after mysterious lights illuminated the skies of Bengaluru, NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick captured stunning footage of red and green hues from the Dragon Endeavour spacecraft. On October 8, he shared the mesmerising timelapse video on X, stating, “Red and green aurora appear to dance in a timelapse as we fly by looking out Dragon Endeavour’s window with Dragon Freedom in view.” His post showcased the breathtaking view from space.

“We shot a couple thousand images yesterday trying to get the settings, lighting, and framing just right across multiple orbital nights because the aurora was amazing due to recent solar activity,” Dominick wrote on X.

In his post, he also detailed the camera settings used to capture this breathtaking phenomenon: “0.8s exposure, 14mm, ISO 3200, 1.6s interval, 30fps.”

The video has gone viral with over 200,000 views. Dominick shared another post in the comments section, writing, “One of the best single frames from this sequence was posted yesterday.”

The footage and photos taken by the astronaut have captivated social media users worldwide. “We got to see that down on earth last night,” wrote one user in the comments. Another user said, “Great time lapse! It appears that the colour is correlated with altitude. Green occurs at low, red at high altitudes. Would you say that is correct here and in general?”

“What an incredible shot. It’s crazy to think about humanity from above looking at the same thing from below… mindblowingly cool,” wrote a third user.
