On Tuesday, British actor Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things fame, and actor Jake Bongiovi announced their engagement in a cryptic Instagram post that shows Brown wearing an engagement ring. Brown, who is 19, and Bongiovi, who is 20, first made their relationship public in November 2021.
While Brown has an expansive body of work that includes Stranger Things and the Enola Holmes franchise, Bongiovi is yet to make his movie debut. He is the son of famous singer and songwriter Jon Bon Jovi.
Since the announcement of their engagement, social media has been abuzz with commentary about the young age of the couple. The phrase ‘She is 19…’ has been trending on Twitter since Brown’s latest Instagram post.

Many people are tweeting about how they lived as a 19-year-old versus Brown who is already engaged. Pointing out this contrast, a Twitter user wrote, “She is 19 and engaged. I’m 22 and crying because my mom isn’t letting me go out after 6 pm.” Another person wrote, “People getting engaged at 19, When I was 19 I was regretting and confused about my bachelor’s degree and the college I chose”.
Commenting on the couple’s early engagement, a Twitter user wrote, “Was like “isn’t she 19” at first but then remembered if you’re rich you can just do this. They don’t have to go through the life stages of like getting a mortgage before considering marriage. Fair enough!”.
