A video of a couple of men rescuing a turtle that got stuck upside down in the sand on a remote beach has been going viral and earned plaudits online.

Popular page Good News Movement posted the video on Instagram on Sunday and credited it to Brodie Moss, a YouTuber. The video shows Moss along with a toddler when he sees a turtle stuck upside down in the sand.

The caption said that waves occasionally flip these turtles upside down on this remote and uninhabited island. If such a thing happens during a high tide, the tide will eventually recede out to the ocean and the turtles will remain stuck upside down, it said.

Another man is seen joining Moss as they start to dig the sand beneath the turtle. Then they flip the turtle and help in pushing it back into the water where another turtle is seen waiting for it.

The video has received more than 1.5 million views so far. While netizens appreciated the man for helping out the turtle, some wondered whether it was staged for the camera.

“Not his buddy in, the water waiting for him,” a user commented. “You can clearly see that it is not staged, all the sand around the turtle is smooth as swept by water, no footprints, no signs of burrying the turtle, nothing, … glad the guy came along to help,” said another. “Bit rude of the turtle not to turn and give him a wave before it swam off. It’s almost as if Pixar has been lying to us,” wrote a third.
