Dubai summers are infamous, with average temperatures soaring between 40 and 45 degree Celsius. It’s so intense, locals sometimes joke that you could fry an egg on the pavement. A Dubai resident recently tried exactly that, and the Internet can’t stop watching.
A now-viral video, originally shared by a user named Alma on X, shows someone using the desert sun as their personal stovetop. The clip opens with the caption, “How we cook our eggs in Dubai”, and shows a frying pan left under the sun. The man then pours oil into the pan, cracks two eggs, seasons them, and plates them up. He signs off saying, “Enjoy!”
The video, which has racked up 13.8 million views, was shared with the caption: “POV: You live in Dubai.”

However, not everyone’s buying it. The unusual cooking method sparked scepticism among users on social media about the possibility of cooking eggs in the sun. Many speculated that the person might have used a preheated pan. One user remarked, “That’s a preheated pan. That’s why it jump cut after the oil was poured. It got thin too fast to be believable. Come to Arizona mid July. You can do it in the sidewalk. lol.”
Another user wrote, “So this person put that frying pan on the stove right before they did this. Why are y’all so fooled by these fakes?”
Meanwhile, another user reminisced about their unique cooking experience, saying, “Reminds me of the time I baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies on the dashboard of my car in Miami. My car had a black interior, no tint on the windshield, I parked facing the sun on the top level of a parking garage and baked cookies on a baking sheet on my dashboard.”
One user shared an interesting fact about Dubai’s intense heat: “Dubai’s scorching summer heat can hit 50°C with humidity levels up to 90%, making surfaces like metal pans hot enough to cook an egg in minutes. The city also holds a record for one of the highest UV indexes in the world, often reaching 11+, which is extreme enough to cause burns in under 10 minutes.”
This is not the first time someone has attempted to cook eggs using the sun. Two years ago, a man in West Bengal successfully made an omelette on the terrace of his home without using any oil or gas cylinder.
