Despite the excitement surrounding its release, the film has faced underwhelming reviews, with a disappointing 39 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 166 critics. However, a recent interview on Good Morning Britain has shifted some of the attention to an unexpected viral moment.

When host Richard asked Phoenix and Gaga if the movie lived up to their own expectations, the duo simply exchanged a glance and then burst into quiet laughter. The internet has been buzzing ever since, with fans reacting in every way possible—posing questions, sharing speculations, and, of course, flooding social media with memes.

In the extended version of the interview available on the Good Morning Britain YouTube channel, after the host asked the question, Gaga, in a light-hearted move, pretends to hand Phoenix the microphone, nudging him to take over and dodge the tricky question. After some hesitant pauses, Phoenix eventually responds, saying, “Well, I was there, I made the movie. So, I did know what was going to happen.” Struggling to find the right words, he admits, “It’s so hard to talk about.” He then smoothly shifts gears, turning the focus to the musical elements of the film without giving a direct answer.

Fans online didn’t hesitate to poke fun at the film’s emphasis on musical numbers. A lot of the buzz centres around Gaga’s performance, with many feeling she was chosen more for her singing abilities. Some even argue that the film didn’t make full use of her vocal talent.
