A Japanese tourist recently shared an emotional account of her journey through India. In a heart-felt post on Reddit, the tourist shared that the constant noise in the country became so overwhelming. She talked about her time exploring popular destinations like Agra, Rajasthan, and Punjab. While she acknowledged the beauty and richness of Indian culture, she admitted that the incessant noise proved to be a significant struggle for her.

In her post, the tourist wrote, “I’m a Japanese traveller currently in India, and I want to start by saying that I do like India.” She praised the local food, describing it as “delicious,” and noted that the majority of people she met were “willing to help when approached.”

She further described painful constant noise, including loud honking and firecrackers going off late into the night, and small festivals being celebrated on roads. “The honking is non-stop, especially from trucks, and it creates a feeling of total sensory overload,” she shared. “There are also people celebrating small festivals in the streets, completely blocking traffic with loud drums and music. I really wish it could be quieter,” she added.

“I don’t mean to be rude. Does anyone have any advice to help? I cannot wear earplugs all the time and in bed. Or should I just deal with it and visit a quieter part of India, if they exist? Thank you so much for any help,” the tourist wrote.

Several social media users from India agreed with the woman soon after the post came to light. “I would highly recommend Kerala. I lived in Delhi for 3 years and it was pure hell when it came to noise pollution,” a user wrote. “I can’t imagine growing up in such a quiet, clean, and orderly country like Japan and moving to India. The contrast is insane,” another user commented.
