The duo set a new world record by walking on a slackline between two hot air balloons at an altitude of 2,500 meters.
As per the International Slackline Association, Kuehne and Irmler were 600 meters higher than the previous record set in 2021––at 1,900 meters––in Brazil. In the viral video, the duo can be seen effortlessly walking on the slackline, tied between two giant hot air balloons above dense clouds.
Sharing the video on Instagram, Brut America wrote, “German slackline athletes Friedi Kuehne and Lukas Irmler set a new world record by walking a slackline suspended between two hot air balloons at an altitude of 2,500 meters (8,202 feet), breaking the previous record of 1,900 meters (6,234 feet) set in Brazil in 2021. Both athletes are seasoned slackliners with multiple records to their names.”

According to Local 12, the US-based broadcast network, Irmler set a world record by covering the longest distance on a slackline, which was two kilometers in 2019. Kuehne gained recognition for his highlining achievements, including balancing on high ropes without safety devices. In 2017, Kuehne created a new record by walking a 110-meter-long slackline at a height of 250 meters.
