FIFA President hints at Cristiano Ronaldo’s Club World Cup participation on iShowSpeed stream: ‘Wouldn’t that be something special’

FIFA president Gianni Infantino made a surprise appearance on iShowSpeed’s livestream on Friday night. The stream was filled with many moments that has gone viral on social media but one statement from Infantino has hyped up the fans of one of the best and most famous football players – Cristiano Ronaldo.

During Speed’s stream, Infantino stated that “Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup, there are discussions.”

When Speed pressed further on whether Ronaldo would participate in the tournament, Infantino replied: “There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup…who knows, who knows.”

Ronaldo currently is not a part of revamped FIFA Cub World Cup set to take place between June 14 and July 13 in the United States, as his Saudi team Al-Nassr couldn’t quality for the tournament. Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami qualified for the tournament through the host nation slot after winning the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield.

Infantino’s remarks may have boosted the morale of Ronaldo’s fans, but representatives of the 40-year-old Portuguese forward told The Athletic that they were displeased with his comments about Ronaldo’s future.

After the video went viral, netizens also took to the comments to share their thoughts on the statement. A user wrote, “Wow, this is some good news.”

Another user wrote, “FIFA president in his stream? this is another level.” A third user said, “Speed is just casually sitting with the FIFA president like its his everyday friend LMAO this guy.”

A fourth individual wrote, “he said “might”. Beckham could do the craziest thing in sports history,” referring to Beckham to sign Ronaldo to Inter Miami as Beckham is a co-owner of the club.

This comment also aligns with what Infantino had to say when Speed asked him the popular question, “Messi or Ronaldo?”

“Two incredible players. If you are Portuguese, then you are for Ronaldo. If you are from Argentina, you are for Messi. I would love to see them play together. Imagine the two of them in the same team, wouldn’t that be something special,” says Infantino.
