Teetwal is separated by the Kishanganga river.Nestled along the LoC in Kashmir, the village of Teetwal finds itself split across the India-Pakistan border. Separated by a political line but bound by shared history and culture, Teetwal embodies the complexities of a divided land.
Life in Teetwal unfolds amidst security presence and restrictions, yet traditions and connections persevere. Though reunions are rare, the crossing point offers precious moments for divided families to share laughter and tears.
An Instagram video shared by @khawaja_sadeeq delves into how beyond the hardships, a glimpse of humanity shines through. Friendly waves exchanged across the divide and the stunning natural beauty of the valley paint a picture of hope and resilience. As you stand on the rope bridge in Teetwal, you’re practically in two places at once!
In Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Teetwal village finds itself split, with one half residing within India and the other under Pakistani administration. Separated by the Kishanganga river, named the Neelum in PoK, the Indian side retains the original name while the Pakistani half has been renamed Chilhana and now belongs to the Neelum valley.
