Watch: Ceiling panel detaches on Delta airlines flight from Honolulu to Minneapolis

Passenger Marissa Walton witnessed the exact moment when the ceiling panel on the Delta Air Lines flight DL309, departing from Honolulu for Minneapolis, dislodged.

A Delta Air Lines passenger, Marissa Walton, captured the moment a ceiling panel came loose from an aircraft flying from Honolulu to Minneapolis. The Boeing 767-332 (ER), the plane in question, departed from Honolulu under normal conditions on June 1.

As the cabin crew scrambled to fix the issue, Walton filmed the incident. The video was shared on X by @fl360aero and has garnered over 121.1K views.

“I’m not an expert, but this doesn’t look great,” wrote Walton, according to an MSN report. The footage showed the plane full of passengers, with the panel hanging precariously above a passenger’s head. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Social media users expressed their concern over the footage. One user said, “It’s a Boeing what else you expect from it.” Another user wrote, “I dunno, man. Has Boeing never heard of duct tape?” And a third X user said, “PSU (Passenger Service Unit). I think he is installing it the wrong way. Need to remove a gap panel in the front or back of the PSU, engage the panel in the grove on the sides and align it and then install the removed gap panel..”

This incident follows a series of similar scares. In late January, a Boeing 757 lost its front tire as it was preparing for an international flight. At Atlanta International Airport, a Delta flight bound for Bogota, Colombia, was alerted by another plane about a potential issue while taxiing.
