Yoga guru and Patanjali founder Ramdev blocked US millionaire Bryan Johnson, also popular as “age-reversing” CEO, on X, after Johnson criticised his anti-aging claims.

On Tuesday, Ramdev shared a video of himself running alongside a horse, asserting that certain Patanjali products could offer anti-aging benefits and boost immunity. Sharing the video, Ramdev wrote, “Ghode ki tarah tez daudne ki taakat, strong immunity, anti-aging aur power chahiye toh Swarna Shilajit avam Immunogrit Gold khaaiye (If you want to run like a horse, want strong immunity, anti-aging, and power then consume Swarna Shilajit and Immunogrit Gold).”

Johnson responded to Ramdev’s post by pointing out that the air quality in Haridwar, where Ramdev resides, is so poor that breathing increases the risk of heart and lung disease. “Air quality in Haridwar right now is PM 2.5 36 µg/m³ which is equal to smoking 1.6 cigarettes a day,” he wrote. “This raises risks of heart disease by 40–50%, lung cancer by 3x, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and early death (5–7 years lost),” Johnson wrote.

With over 1,39,000 views, the post garnered an array of reactions, many agreeing with Johnson. “Having worked with many ex-pat Indian patients, couldn’t agree more. Many start showing signs of COPD much earlier than even some smokers. Despite having no hx of smoking. Appreciate you raising awareness about this,” a user wrote. “Thank you for raising awareness in India about air quality! Until you came along not many people cared about it but I bet now they will. And I hope they seriously do,” another user commented.

Last year, Johnson halted his podcast with Zerodha’s co-founder Nikhil Kamath and left the venue, citing poor air quality. “When in India, I did end this podcast early due to the bad air quality. Nikhil Kamath was a gracious host and we were having a great time. The problem was that the room we were in circulated outside air which made the air purifier I’d brought with me ineffective,” he later wrote on X.
