Australian former cricketer Glenn McGrath was a part of the legendary team that won three consecutive World Cup trophies from 1999 to 2007. The fast-medium pace bowler was renowned for maintaining an accurate line and length and never coming under pressure.

Still displaying nerves of steel, the 53-year-old posted a video on Instagram that showed him calmly removing a snake that had entered his home. Not one, but three snakes had crawled into his home. But strangely, McGrath appeared to be calm as he used to be in the middle of the pitch when he removed one of the snakes using a broom. The coastal carpet python rolled itself around the broom and McGrath held the snake by its tail as he escorted it out.

“After plenty of encouragement & support from @saraleonmcgrath all 3 Coastal Carpet Pythons that were in the house were safely released back into the bush,” McGrath captioned the video.

“Keeping a good line and length between self and snake! Good work!” commented an Instagram user. “Python vs Pigeon,” said another, the latter being the cricketer’s nickname. “This is better than his 50 he scored against New Zealand,” wrote a third. “Haha good technique mate. Steve Irwin couldn’t have done it any better,” another user said, referring to the late Australian zookeeper and conservationist.

Sara Leonardi is McGrath’s second wife. The couple met during the 2009 IPL and got married in November 2010. McGrath’s first wife, Jane Louise, died aged 42 from complications following cancer surgery in 2008.

With 563 wickets in 124 Tests and 381 wickets in 250 ODIs, McGrath retired from international cricket in 2007.
