A woman shared on Reddit how she changed everyone’s passwords at her old office, a restaurant, after leaving the job as a payback for how “awfully” she was treated by her coworkers.
The Instagram account of Reddit shared the post a day ago. She said she doesn’t care if it was “immature and petty” of her. “I can’t stress how awfully I was treated in this job, and how the entire team joined in on it. I was the only woman on the team so it could’ve been that but I don’t want to play the gender card,” she wrote. She said she was never rude to her colleagues and not too fond of confrontation so she “used to be a doormat”.
One evening, she decided it was the last straw and went home for the night and never went back. She received various calls on WhatsApp asking why she hadn’t shown up but she didn’t answer.
A week later, she realised she was still logged into her manager’s account and he hadn’t changed the password. This account was the restaurant’s entire database, she said. “It had information for menus, staff, ordering, stock etc,” she wrote.
She decided to change the email to a fake one and also changed everyone’s password so they couldn’t access it.

The Reddit post divided netizens as many commented that this was a “childish act” and she should learn how to stand up for herself.
“Honestly, good for you… BUT you gotta learn to stand up for yourself because you can’t do this at every place they disrespect you,” a user commented. “This is never the right thing to do. Not speaking up for yourself, doing something petty in secret to get back at everyone, and then avoiding them for the rest of your life. How incredibly spineless, spiteful and immature,” said another.
“Sorry but I found this childish. Did this team include the manager? If not, why not put in a complaint with someone else. Also, why does the her not being able to communicate her issue have to impact the entire business,” wrote a third.
