It is noteworthy that recently elected or re-elected leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mexico’s Claudia Sheinbaum, and America’s Donald Trump, are among the most favoured leaders, according to Morning Consult, which offers insights into the political atmosphere across different countries.

Modi was re-elected for a third term as India’s prime minister in May 2024, and Sheinbaum became Mexico’s (and North America’s) first woman president in October, while Trump was recently sworn in as the US president for his second term.

Below is a list of the top ten most prominent global political leaders as of January 2025, along with their current approval ratings based on data collected from January 21 to January 27, 2025.

Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, leads globally in early 2025:

Notably, consistently ranking as the most renowned leader globally in 2024, India’s three-time Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again emerged as the most popular global leader with 75 per cent approval ratings in January 2025.

Least popular global political leaders, as of January 2025:

Yoon Suk Yeol (left), Emmanuel Macron (centre), and Petr Fiala (right)

Conversely, among the least popular leaders is Yoon Suk Yeol, the suspended president of South Korea, who is currently in detention facing charges related to insurrection and abuse of power.

French President Emmanuel Macron has also seen his approval ratings decline drastically, with three-quarters of the population expressing disapproval, particularly after his controversial call for snap elections in 2024.

Additionally, Petr Fiala, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, faces significant unpopularity due to his government’s difficulties in addressing economic concerns and for not adhering to his promise to refrain from raising taxes.
