Top 10 countries with the best and worst quality of life in 2025: Quality of life goes beyond money—it measures how healthy, safe, and fulfilled people feel in their daily lives. It includes healthcare, education, work-life balance, cost of living, safety, and the overall environment. According to the United Nations, more than 300 million people migrate across borders in search of a better life.
To track this, Numbeo has released its Quality of Life Report 2025, ranking countries on multiple factors including life expectancy, education, child health, pollution, safety, and social services. The results highlight both the world’s most liveable nations and those struggling to provide secure and stable lives for their citizens.
Luxembourg tops the list with a score of 218.2, offering its residents safety, prosperity, and strong public services. Oman is the only non-European nation in the top 10, scoring 215.1, and is praised for its low crime rate, modern infrastructure, and natural beauty.
These rankings underline how countries investing in healthcare, education, and clean environments consistently provide better standards of living.

At the other end of the spectrum, Nigeria ranks last with a score of 15.6. Despite its natural resources, the country struggles with poverty, weak healthcare, corruption, and security challenges, making daily life difficult for many.
Pakistan stands at 76th with a score of 105.7, weighed down by inflation, limited job opportunities, governance challenges, and weak healthcare systems.
India ranks 62nd with a score of 124.4. While the country has seen improvements in infrastructure, technology, and foreign investments, challenges remain. High levels of pollution, population pressure, uneven access to healthcare, and stark urban-rural divides continue to affect everyday life.
India performs better than neighbours like Pakistan and Bangladesh but still falls short of the global average—showing that more progress is needed to make life safer, healthier, and more fulfilling for all citizens.
