Don’t blame victims: These Facebook posters show that women never ask for it

The message from the posters is simple: Don't judge rape victims who report the crime

A series of posters designed as part of a social media campaign for a class project by Himani Auplish to increase awareness about the humiliation that rape victims face, have gone viral on Facebook.

In the photos, the designer portrays what a victim has to face after she is raped. Posted on Facebook by Chennai based non-profit organisation AWARE, the photos have been shared over 1800 times on the social media site itself.

The artwork features some of the questions that are asked when a woman comes forth with a complaint of rape or sexual harassment. These questions are often to discredit the victim’s account of the incident.

From questions, like a why was the victim alone or why was she drinking, victims must face constant harassment, humiliation should they choose to report a crime.  The posters take these questions that are often asked and corrects them by adding a word or two here.  Check out some of the posters below.
