Nestle’s Maggi noodles are facing the heat in India after health authorities found unsafe levels of MSG and Lead in the product. Result: your favourite instant meal has been banned in most states in the country.
As we had noted in this piece, the Gorakhpur lab, where the Maggi controversy all began found MSG in the instant noodels and in addition, the Kolkata lab found “very high quantities” of lead — 17.2 parts per million — according to UP authorities. In short, the labs confirmed, what we might have already known: Maggi is not always the healthiest option.
Of course, the end of Maggi means that an entire generation of Indians is currently in mourning and the Internet is flooded with memes, GIFs that capture what it means to be denied your daily dose of Maggi.
