November is over and so is Movember, but bizarre beard trends have no stopping. From cool fashion trends like glittery beard, to beard accessories, there have been many things to add an edge to the whiskers. But now an Eyptian man has hit the headlines for his unusual beard and it does not involve any body hair! Yes, the man grows his beard almost instantly with nothing but honey bees. Shocking, right?
The 31-year-old man Mohamed Hagras flaunts his unusual beard every year for promotion at his farm and participates in competition. The engineer-turned-beekeeper says that his goal is to tell the world that bees are not aggressive, in contrast to the popular belief.

To build his ‘beard of bees’ he uses bee hormones to attract the insects reports Reuters. “To attract the insects he has a box housing their queen’s hormones strapped to his chin,” the report says.
The report adds that he remembers a Canadian model’s ‘Bikini of Bees’ he once witnessed at a beekeeping event—as an initiative to “educate Egyptians on the usefulness of bees.” Talking about the helpfulness of bees, Hagras says, “One the contrary, they are helpful and produce things that help humans and agriculture.”

For the bee hormone, Hagras extract it from a queen bee after its death and attract bees from the same hive which lost its queen. He also adds that he uses the same method to form a new hive for the bees.
“He uses the “Beard of Bees” at contests and exhibitions where like-minded people try to break world records. The current holder is a Chinese beekeeper who in 2015 covered his entire body with over a million bees, a combined weight of almost 110 kg,” the report says.
As of now, we knew bee wax was a perfect partner to style your whiskers and take care, but now even bee hormones are not left outside in the beard game.
