WhatsApp is not only the most popular messaging platform but also the most preferred app for video calling, at least in India. The platform allows users to make calls free of cost, and it even supports group calls, making it easy for people to connect from across the world. Like most digital services, many users might face some issues while trying to initiate calls on WhatsApp at times, and here are five different ways to fix these issues:

Make sure your internet is working

make sure you have an active internet connection (Express Photo)

A patchy internet connection could be one of the primary issues that could prevent one from making an audio and video call on WhatsApp. Make sure that your phone has a strong cellular signal or the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network with slightly higher bandwidth to initiate a call from WhatsApp. Even if you have an active internet connection, disabling and re-enabling the network could also solve the WhatsApp calling issue.

Restart your phone

Even if you have an active internet connection and WhatsApp calling is not working, restarting your device could also help you resolve this issue. First, try to open and close WhatsApp, and then fully shut down your smartphone and turn it on. Once turned on, you should be able to make calls on WhatsApp.

Try updating WhatsApp

Always use the latest version of WhatsApp (Express Photo)

If you have an older version of WhatsApp, it could also interfere while trying to make a call, and it’s always recommended to install the latest version of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Also, make sure that if you are using a VPN, disable the same, as some countries do not support VoIP-based calls, and WhatsApp calls are based on VoIP or voice-over-internet protocol.

Give necessary permissions

Make sure WhatsApp has all the necessary permission (Express Photo)

If you are trying to call on WhatsApp for the first time, then make sure that you grant the necessary permissions to WhatsApp, which includes access to the internet, microphone, camera, contacts, notifications, and location. Once the permissions are granted, just reopen WhatsApp, and you should be able to initiate calls without any issues.

Uninstall third-party WhatsApp apps

Always use the official WhatsApp app, and if you are using a third-party WhatsApp app, just uninstall it and install the official version. A third-party app will not give access to all the latest WhatsApp features, and it could also lead to personal data theft. There is also a chance that WhatsApp might permanently ban you from accessing the platform.
