You can take screenshots of messages sent in Vanish Mode. (Express Photo)In 2020, Instagram introduced a Snapchat-like feature that lets users share disappearing messages. Called ‘Vanish Mode’, the functionality allows users to send text, voice messages, emojis, photos and stickers which will automatically disappear once viewed and no longer stay in the chat window.
Similar to disappearing messages on WhatsApp, Vanish Mode is useful if you want to send texts, images and videos to someone and want the message to vanish after they have seen it. One thing to note here is that once ‘Vanish Mode is activated in Instagram DMs, you won’t be able to copy, save or forward messages, but the other person can report or take a screenshot of messages you send.
Also, some professional accounts do not support disappearing messages. Since the feature is unavailable on the desktop website, so you will need to use the iOS or Android app to use Vanish Mode.

Once Vanish Mode is turned on, the other person will not be notified of the change but will know it is enabled when they open the conversation. When you turn off Vanish Mode, all messages and images shared in the conversation will automatically disappear. Also, if someone takes a screenshot in Vanish Mode, Instagram will notify the other person.
