World Photography Day is celebrated on August 19 to honour and recognise the contribution of photographers. In recent years, smartphones have become the default camera for many, enabling us to capture every moment without needing a dedicated camera. iPhones are slightly ahead of the competition in this regard.

While most recent iPhones already have excellent point-to-shoot cameras, simply changing a few settings could further enhance the camera experience.

If you are an iPhone user, here are five settings you can immediately change to enhance the camera experience.

  1. 01

    Enable gridlines and level

If you have trouble framing a subject while shooting on an iPhone, enable the grid and level option from the settings. This option makes it easy to perfectly frame and capture a scene on your iPhone. Once enabled, the camera viewfinder will show lines and a level option on the screen, making it easy to frame a subject.

  2. 02

    Disable auto-flash

iPhones are smart enough to enable/disable flash automatically, depending on the lighting conditions. However, If you plan to capture an authentic-looking picture, we recommend you disable the auto flash option on your iPhone. This enables capturing authentic-looking pictures even in low-lighting conditions where the flash might overexpose the scene and make it look unnatural.

  3. 03

    Enable mirror front camera

Anyone who loves taking selfies on an iPhone should enable the mirror front camera option to get a selfie that looks similar to how they appear in a mirror. However, this has one issue: the text written on your clothing will appear backwards.

  4. 04

    Enable prioritise faster shooting

Enabling this will make your iPhone capture an image in less time, ensuring it looks sharp, especially when you are trying to capture a fast-moving subject. For anyone who loves to capture a scene quickly on their iPhone and expects the image to turn out sharp, this is a must-use feature.

  5. 05

    Enable lens correction

For those who enjoy capturing landscape photos on their iPhone with the ultra-wide-angle lens, the lens correction feature reduces distortion, particularly at the edges, which is a common issue with ultra-wide-angle lenses. This feature is available on most new iPhones.
