X calling feature is enabled by default for all. (Image Source: X)Elon Musk owned X recently expanded audio and video calling to everyone. The feature is enabled by default, but it may be a privacy nightmare as it reveals your IP address to the person you are talking to.
While the app offers the option to hide your IP address from the other person, X hasn’t clarified if the calls are end-to-end encrypted. This is a big privacy concern for many since it may allow X to listen to snoop in on your conversations.

If you want to protect your privacy and don’t want to make or receive calls on the platform, here’s how to quickly disable the audio and video calling feature on X.
1. Launch the app on your device and tap on the DM icon located on the right side of the bottom navigation bar.
2. Now, tap on the ‘Settings’ gear icon on the top right of the screen.
3. Here, you will see a toggle named ‘Enable audio and video calling’. Turn it off and you will no longer receive audio or video calls on X.
If you don’t care about end-to-end encryption and just want to hide your IP address while talking to others on X, turn on the ‘Enhanced call privacy’ toggle. The app also allows users to control whether they want to receive audio and video calls from strangers, followers, or verified users or limit it to their phone’s saved contact list.
