HP sets new energy reduction goals

HP established new goals to reduce the energy use and carbon intensity of its operations and products.

HP announced that it has established new goals to reduce the energy use and carbon intensity of its operations and products as well as reported its progress on environmental initiatives across the company.

HP has already met its goal of reducing combined energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of HP operations and products to 25 per cent below 2005 levels by 2010.

HP’s new goal is to reduce the energy consumption and associated GHG emissions of all its products to 40 per cent below 2005 levels by the end of 2011.

“HP continues to build and report on transparent programs that support environmental sustainability as a global business strategy,” said Shane Robison,executive vice president and chief strategy and technology officer,HP. “By shedding light on our energy use and carbon footprint – and by extension our customers and partners – we’re driving greater efficiency across the global economy.”
