Every gadget these days want to become slim and light. But there are times when this means a faceoff in terms of price. For instance, while buying a new external drive, we calculate ROI based on GB or TB versus price. Most of us are okay a heavier or larger drive as long as you get more storage for the price. Seagate, however, feels consumers should have an option to buy a slim and lightweight external drive for their slim devices and this is where the Seagate Seven comes in.

What is good?
Of course, it is the slimmest and lightest 500GB portable hard drive you can buy now. The Seagate Seven looks great and goes well with any ultrabook. The performance of the drive is decent, though it is not the fastest external drive. However, it is good enough for your daily needs. It comes with an in-built backup software which is always a good thing to have. The drive comes with exFAT file format which ensures support for Windows, Mac and Linux systems.
What is bad?
The Seagate Seven is expensive. You are paying almost double the price for just a slim 500GB hard drive. Also, if you are willing to pay more to get a cool slim external drive, you are restricted to 500GB only.
Verdict
Seagate Seven looks impressive and you would be tempted to buy at first glance itself. However, are you willing to pay almost double, just for looks?
