Smartphones might be getting smarter, but there is one pain point not one of them have been able to get the better of, at least not without affecting their size. Even the best smartphones still struggle to make their batteries last over 12 hours. And that is why battery power banks are now big business. Since charging your power bank every day is a big pain for users, the push now seems for larger storage cells. We will be reviewing a long list of these devices starting with the OnePlus Power Bank.

For me the OnePlus One is among the best Android phones in the market. And big reason for this is sandstone back of the phone. Now, OnePlus has used the same material to cover its battery pack, making this power bank the most stylish of the lot. OnePlus has also incorporates some smooth curves that really add to the design quotient. Plus, the bank just weighs 222 grams.

This is a 10,000 mAh battery and that takes a good 5 hours plus to charge fully. It is recommended that you charge this overnight.

I like the fact that there are no switches on this power bank, usually a frustrating experience. This one just needs a shake to show how much juice it has. There are four small blue LEDs on the side to convey this message. One shake of the power bank and they light up showing how much juice is left.

Also, the bank starts charging as soon as you plug something in and there is no need to fiddle with a switch to get things running.

I took the bank during a short trip to Seoul with a full charge. I charged the Moto Turbo I am reviewing on the way. This phone has a large 3900mAh battery and it took the whole of the Hong Kong-Seoul stretch to hit 100% per cent. That is just over 3 hours, which is fast considering the size of the battery. I recharged my primary phone with a 3000 mAh battery on the way back.

By the time I was back in India, the bank still had a couple of LEDs blinking, showing that there was still at least half the juice left. It automatically switches off charging when the device hits 100 per cent. It was also hard to overlook the fact that this power bank, unlike a lot of its peers, does not heat up while charging.

Verdict: Priced at Rs 1,399, the OnePlus Power Bank is one of the best options for those who need to carry extra juice in their pockets all the time. This seems to be one of the more dependable power banks at the moment. It is definitely the most stylish.
