Indigo crisis: Railways announces 89 special trains

Amid the ongoing disruption due to cancellation of IndiGo flights, the Indian Railways said that it is running 89 special trains, starting Saturday, for the next three days. These trains will cover more than 100 trips during the period across various zones of Railways.

Central Railway will operate maximum 14 Special Trains Services to felicitate the stranded passengers. This includes Pune-Bengaluru, Pune-Hazrat Nizamuddin, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus(LTT )-Madgaon, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus(CSMT)-Hazrat Nizamuddin, LTT-Lucknow, Nagpur-CSMT, Gorakhpur-LTT, and Bilaspur–LTT.

Similarly, South Eastern Railway will run Santragachi-Yelahanka, Howrah–CSMT, and Cherlapalli–Shalimar train. Officials said that South Central Railway operated three special trains on Saturday from Cherlapalli to Shalimar, Secunderabad to Chennai Egmore, and from Hyderabad to Mumbai LTT to manage the extra rush of passengers.

Eastern Railway will operate special train services between Howrah, Sealdah and major destinations. Western Railway will operate seven special trains to meet the increased travel demand. Apart from this, to facilitate winter travel from Bihar, East Central Railway will operate special trains from Patna and Darbhanga to Anand Vihar Terminal.

North Western Railway will operate two Special Fare Special trains on a one-trip basis to clear the extra rush of passengers during the upcoming travel period. Western Railway will also run one-trip Special Fare Special Train Durgapura-Bandra Terminus Special on Sunday.
